Happy Birthday J.T.!!

Since J.T.'s birthday was over the weekend I really couldn't decorate his room while he was gone so I woke up a little earlier than him, (not hard on a Saturday) and did a little number on his door.

Who knew that a few dollars at the dollar store could be such a success.  It was a really busy day of outside work before the cold sets in and J.T.'s first basketball game.  It was also Stake Conference so Troy and I had meetings to attend.  So we did his birthday at lunch time which worked out great.

This is proof that pinterest has some great ideas and they all do not fail, I loved how it turned out.

This my friends is what 13 looks like....

Giant Utes fan in our house, so holidays and birthdays are really pretty easy.

Then the final gift, a case for the beloved guitar.  He has done such a great job and really worked hard.  I love listening to him practice.  Happy Birthday J.T.!!!

Happy Birthday Sara!!

Fifteen years ago a beautiful little girl with dark hair and a heck of a set of lungs came into this world and made my dreams come true.  She made me a mom.  There are so many things I love about this girl.  Recently I heard someone describe her in the most perfect way possible.  When we were on our trip and attended church after she was introduced to a girl in the ward, Sister Colten said she was a graceful, well spoken and confident young lady.  That is exactly who she is.  She is beautiful and I am so grateful that she is my daughter and I have the chance to watch her grow and become who she is meant to become.

  

Sara and her best friend Tehya, these two are great together and I couldn't be happier they are friends.

So J.T. was super patient this year.  He wanted to have family at his birthday but in order to get everyone there he had to wait three days after his birthday to celebrate.  According to him, "I could have waited 'til New Years."  So apparently the evening was a success.  We had Grandma and Grandpa Thurgood, Crystal and Norm and their family.  We had street meat for dinner with Italian sodas.  It was a really good night.

So, continuing with the "no frills" cakes this year, J.T. choose an Angry Birds cake courtesy of DQ, thank you very much.

I love this picture, even though it is blurry, because seriously the reaction was priceless.

Then came the best part of the night, Ute tickets.  And to make it even better he gets to see the game with his dad and Brent.  His reaction was good enough to share.

THINGS I LOVE ABOUT J.T.

1.  He can build just about anything with his Legos.

2.  He always invites Cambelle to play with him.

3.  He is a wonderful brother, and does what he can to take care of them.

4.  He walks me to church every Sunday.

5.  He tries so hard at school and is doing super well.

6.  He is always looking for ways to help other people.

7.  He is genuinely a really good person.

When was this chick given permission to grow up?

This year we spent a very low key evening together with grandma and grandpa.

Her expressions when unwrapping gifts have always been my favorite.  When she was little she made the comment once, "I love when Santa gives me something I didn't know that I wanted."  She was always been excited and grateful.

I am taking a year off of elaborate birthday cakes.  We have two birthdays this year on Wednesday.  I should do a post about one of my average Wednesdays, CUURAAZZZY.
